Xiaomi AI Glasses: Your First Pair of Smart Glasses Is Here

·

Xiaomi has officially entered the smart glasses arena with the launch of its AI-powered eyewear. Designed to blend style with functionality, these glasses aim to be a seamless part of your daily tech ecosystem.

Design and Comfort

When it comes to wearables, design is just as important as features. Xiaomi’s AI Glasses adopt a classic D-frame shape inspired by the well-known Wellington style, making them suitable for a wide range of face shapes, especially Asian fits. The hinges allow the arms to flex up to 12 degrees outward, reducing pressure on the temples—a common issue with bulkier smart glasses.

Available in three color options—Black, Tortoise Brown, and Parrot Green—the latter two feature a semi-transparent smoked finish, reminiscent of Xiaomi’s “Transparent Explorer” edition smartphones.

Weighing approximately 40 grams without lenses, the glasses remain lightweight even with prescription or specialty lenses added, typically reaching between 50 to 60 grams. For all-day comfort, resin lenses are recommended over glass.

Xiaomi has also partnered with Shanghai-based Mingyue Optical to offer prescription lenses directly through its Youpin app, or you can visit one of nearly 400 authorized optical stores across China for in-person fitting.

Innovative Lens Options

Beyond standard and prescription lenses, Xiaomi introduces electrochromic lenses that change tint on demand. Similar to technology used in airplane windows, these lenses adjust their darkness level electronically.

Two versions are available: a single-color model with four shading levels and a multi-color model that switches between black, pink, blue, and purple. Both are controlled via a swipe gesture on the temple.

First-Person View Camera

One of the standout features of the Xiaomi AI Glasses is the ability to capture photos and videos from a first-person perspective, leaving your hands completely free.

Equipped with a 12-megapixel IMX681 sensor—the same used in devices like the ThundeReal V3—the glasses can record 2K video at 30fps with electronic image stabilization (EIS). A four-microphone array with bone conduction technology ensures clear audio even in windy conditions.

The camera is discreetly placed on the left temple, with an indicator light on the right. A physical shutter button is located on the right arm.

Fully integrated into Xiaomi’s HyperOS ecosystem, the glasses allow users to switch between the phone camera and the glasses’ camera during video calls on apps like WeChat and QQ. This enables a unique “over-the-shoulder” view during calls.

Live Streaming Made Easy

Xiaomi has collaborated with major streaming platforms including Bilibili, Douyin, Kuaishou, and Xiaohongshu. Users can now live-stream directly from the glasses without additional cameras or complex setups—just the glasses, a phone, and a USB cable.

Always-On AI Assistant

Powered by Xiaomi’s voice assistant Xiao AI, the glasses offer real-time translation between Chinese and ten other languages: English, French, Japanese, Korean, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, and Indonesian. This makes them one of the most multilingual smart glasses available.

The glasses also support seamless recording for meetings or memos. Using the smartphone’s recording app, they capture audio with minimal intrusion and enhanced spatial presence during playback.

Note that at launch, translation is only available between Chinese and other languages—direct foreign language-to-language translation is not yet supported.

All-Day Battery Life

Under the hood, the Xiaomi AI Glasses are equipped with the Qualcomm AR1 processor, which includes a dedicated NPU and dual ISPs for efficient on-device AI and imaging tasks. For lower-power operations like music playback, a secondary BES2700H Bluetooth audio chip from Bestechnic is used.

The glasses incorporate the same high-density silicon-anode battery technology found in the Xiaomi 15 Pro. Users can expect up to 8 hours of mixed use—including calls, video recording, AI queries, and music—and around 7–8 hours of continuous music or call time.

A full charge takes approximately 50 minutes. For extended use cases like live streaming, the glasses can be powered continuously via the USB-C port located on the right temple. Note that this port is for charging only and does not support data transfer or audio output.

Pricing and Availability

The standard version of Xiaomi AI Glasses starts at ¥1,999. The electrochromic lens models are priced at ¥2,699 (single-color) and ¥2,999 (multi-color).

Prescription lenses are available through Mingyue Optical via the Youpin app or at authorized optical shops.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use Xiaomi AI Glasses without a Xiaomi phone?
A: While the glasses offer basic functionality like recording and music playback on any Android or iOS device, full integration with features like camera switching during calls and Xiao AI requires a Xiaomi phone running HyperOS.
